Known for their birria tacos, this spot has been on my radar for the longest time. Located in Jamaica Plain, they serve birria tacos in every way. You can get the classic in either chicken or beef, in the form of ramen or as a pizza. For our first time, we went with the classic and ordered both the chicken and beef.
In the time of covid, there is no indoor seating. So order your food and then get the fuck out. Luckily, there is a park and a few benches right across the street along with plenty of garbage cans, which is what we did.
I usually have a 3 taco limit before I start bursting at the seams, but with La Patrona it ended up being a 2 taco limit.
They stuff the tacos with so much meat and cheese.
Oh, and if we had to choose between the chicken or beef, we’d choose the chicken. It’s surprisingly, more tender and juicy than the beef. Also, you get a more evenly distributed bite with the chicken – the beef kinda clumps up in some parts and so you end up with a massive bite of beef.
Either way, they’re both delicious – so much flavor. These are my first birria tacos so I don’t have anything else to compare them to. The Mister, on the other hand, had some the other week and he says that these are out of this world.
Tres Leches Factory
But, what you can’t do without leaving is not place an order for some tres leches. They carry a variety of flavors from the Tres Leches Factory. Everything looked so delicious – we chose the banana pudding and grabbed the last of the Boston Cream.
Of the two, we’d definitely go for the banana pudding – packed with banana flavor and the cookie crumbles just added a nice texture. The Boston cream needed more chocolate. I almost went back to order another banana pudding. Anyhow, what I appreciate is the they’re not too sweet.
We can’t wait to go back and try either the birria ramen or the pizza and choose another tres leches to inhale.
